The Kingpin is a supervillain published by Marvel Comics. First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #50 (July 1967), he is the so-called "King of Crime" in New York City, holding ties to most criminal organizations in the city. Though originally an enemy of Spider-Man, the Kingpin has become the arch-enemy of Daredevil and is widely considered one of the most powerful criminals in Marvel's catalogue. Available thought the Superheroes Unlimited, Kingpin was first added to the Legends Mod in the June 2020 update as a boss fight. The player can confront him and henchmen as part of the Kingpin Takedown mission.
Backstory[]
The Kingpin's real name is Wilson Fisk, an international businessman and entrepreneur from New York City. Growing up in poverty, he first became a leader of a gang after defeating his childhood bullies in combat. It was after this that he became involved in petty crimes and, discovering he enjoyed the lifestyle, decided to become New York's criminal kingpin. As he grew up, Fisk built up his physical strength to incredible levels, though it was often confused for body fat and obesity by others.
Fisk first became involved in organized criminal after being recruited crime lord Don Rigoletto, whom he later murdered and took over the criminal empire. After several disastrous encounters with other organizations including the Maggia and HYDRA, he fled to Japan to escape death. There, Fisk became involved in the spice trading industry, though which he rebuilt his wealth. Returning to New York to on built up the seemingly legitimate spice company to earn his wealth back. Returning to New York shortly afterwards, he began tipping off the authorities about rivals, using corrupt official to gain their resources. To hide his name, Fisk began operating under the alias "Kingpin".
Around this time, several superheroes and vigilantes, notable Spider-Man, Daredevil and the Punisher, began operating in New York, disrupting several of his operations. To combat them, Kingpin would be forced to become more directly involved in his operations and hire other supervillains, including Bullseye, Elektra, Black Cat and the Shocker. His son, Richard, also became involved in crime, though as a business rival called Schemer. Though his resources, Kingpin has become involved in many international crime organizations, including terrorist cell HYDRA and ninja clan the Hand.
In the Mod[]
Kingpin was added as a boss fight to the Superheroes Unlimited during the Legends Mod version 6.0. To fight him, the player must accept the Kingpin Takedown Global Alert Mission, where he serves as the final boss. Kingpin has 2000 health points, has regeneration 5 and mainly performs melee attacks. However, he will also perform charges, during which he is temporarily invincible. After defeating Kingpin, players will be given 15,000 Galactic Credits, 7,000 tokens and 20 xp levels. Defeating him will also end the event. It is recommended that the player confront Kingpin with a character that is tier 4 or above, or as part of a group.
