Soul Gathering, also called Essence Harvesting, is a mechanic available through the Horror Mod. Added in the first version, it can be unlocked through the Altar, costing 50 levels of experience. By gaining it, the player can gather souls by killing Creepers, Villagers, Spiders, Endermen, Bosses, and other players.
Souls Gathering only works if the player committed to the neutral or dark alignments, or are wearing a villainous character's costumes. It will not work if wearing a heroic character's costume or committed to the light alignment. As a villainous character, the player will be able to gather twice as many souls. If gathering for a character, it is recommended to first obtain a lower tier killer, such as Chucky, and use them to build your way up.
